In Denmark, 60% of our land is farmland. A land that has been changed and processed more in the last 250 years than the previous 10,000, with indisputable negative consequences for our biodiversity, climate and marine environment.
Earthbreak buys up conventional agriculture to give the land and nature a break and restore some of the diversity that once was. At the same time, it supports passionate people who are looking for new ways to reform our agricultural system.
“...horses, pigs, cows, and sheep belong on my farm,” wrote lyricist Margrethe Marstrand in 1955. And she may have had a point — animals play a vital role in maintaining the balance of natural ecosystems.
At Hestruplund in Odsherred, beef cattle have been part of the landscape for decades. Now, we’re taking a bold step: removing 104 hectares from agricultural production to restore the land’s original nature. And we’re doing it with the help of the very animals that once grazed here — large herbivores that shape and sustain biodiversity.
This also means that the farm is now ready to form a framework for new activities that can both create life in the countryside and strengthen the connection between nature, people and food. In Skjoldungernes Land National Park you will find the old Kornerup Mill in scenic surroundings.
In this water protected area, the land has been cultivated conventionally for decades. Now it is time for a break.

Close to the protected nature area Heatherhill, at Rågeleje in North Zealand, an opportunity suddenly arose to acquire 215 hectares of contiguous land.

After several trips around the Danish countryside, we set the first modest flag in the soil of Jutland, or rather in the Jutland heath. We fell in love with the Vrads Sande area, near the small village of Vrads, in Søhøjlandet near Silkeborg.
We need "More, Better and Bigger Nature in Denmark" say the experts and earthbreak wants to help.
Now Vrads Sande is connected to the west with Bøgelund Banke to the east in what is called Skovlandet.
